About Jack Layton, the OAB’s ABIP Inspector

The OAB’s ABIP inspector is Jack Layton, CPBE, who has more than 50 years of hands-on experience in the broadcast industry, including being the Chief Engineer at WIND Chicago and KDKA Pittsburgh and the Engineering Manager for WVON and WGCI Chicago.

Layton’s technical articles have been published in a number of national broadcast periodicals. He is also the author of four books: Directional Antennas: A Guide to Adjustment and Measurement, Directional Antennas Made Simple, The Broadcaster’s Guide to Creating and Maintaining The Public Inspection File and The Radio Chief Operators Handbook. Layton holds an FCC General Radio Telephone License and a FCC Amateur Extra Class License.

Jack is a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and is recognized by that organization as a Certified Professional Broadcast Engineer.
