OAB-BEA Summer Station Faculty Fellowships

Has it been a while since you’ve been in a TV newsroom? Are you wondering about the latest technology being used at radio stations? Don’t miss this outstanding opportunity to participate in an organized visit to television and radio stations designed specifically for faculty members!
The OAB and BEA are pleased to present the Summer Station Faculty Fellowships, a 22-hour program that provides BEA faculty members with the opportunity to tour television and radio stations, watch the production of an evening TV newscast and a morning radio show, and participate in discussions with station management.
A limited number of Summer Station Faculty Fellowships are available for this inaugural program, which will be conducted on July 23-24 in Cincinnati. Fellowships are only available to BEA members and include:
• Station tours at WCPO-TV and Hubbard Radio in Cincinnati.
• Discussions with station management.
• Participation in faculty roundtable discussion following station visits.
• Dinner on Tues. July 23 and breakfast and lunch on Wed. July 24.
Participants are responsible for their travel and hotel expenses (a block of rooms will be available at a nearby hotel).
Tentative Schedule
Tues. July 23, 2024
3pm WCPO-TV Visit
• Presentation by WCPO leadership
• Tour of WCPO facilities
• Watch early evening newscast
• Q&A discussion with station staff
7pm Faculty Fellows dinner
Wed. July 24, 2024
8am Hubbard Cincinnati Visit
• Tour of Hubbard radio stations (WKRQ-FM, WUBE-FM, WREW-FM, WYGY-FM) and 2060 Digital (digital agency)
• Sit in on morning show on WKRQ-FM
• Discussions with production and engineering staff
• Discussion with station management
11am Faculty Fellows debrief session and lunch
1pm Adjourn
Apply today! A limited number of seats are available for this unique program. Application deadline is Friday, June 7th. Fellowship recipients will be notified of their acceptance by Friday, June 14th.
Note: To ensure that we have a broad cross section of schools represented in this inaugural faculty fellows group, we may limit the number of fellows selected from a single institution. We appreciate your understanding.
