The OAB is pleased to partner again with the Ohio State Bar Association for its 2023 Law & Media Conference! This year, attendees have the option of attending the conference virtually via Zoom, or in-person at the Ohio Bar Headquarters in Columbus. As a benefit of membership, the OAB will cover the registration fee for the first 20 attendees from member stations to register for this event, a value of $40! This annual one-day event brings together lawyers, journalists, broadcast professionals, and students to discuss the latest hot topics in media law. This year we are tackling implementation of the Marsy’s Law victims’ rights amendment in Ohio and the impact on public records law. We’ll dissect the recent E. Jean Carroll v. Trump and Dominion v. Fox cases to understand the practical implications for defamation and free speech law, and what’s coming next. And as always, you'll get the latest update on public records case law. The conference will also explore the state of the media industry as well as the latest judicial and legislative updates to Ohio’s Sunshine Laws. Click here to see the full program agenda. Attendance to this event is free for the first 20 OAB member station employees to submit registration. Registration is required by following the link below.
