Decoding Encryption: A User’s Guide to Fighting for Police Transparency
Event Date: February 20, 2024
Event Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

Presented by: Dan Shelley

It’s not just New York, Chicago and California. Public safety agencies in cities and towns, large and small, all across America are taking radical steps to conceal their public safety radio transmissions from the public, including journalists. Why? Because they can. Why is it happening at an accelerated pace now? Because in the post-George Floyd era, police, sheriffs and state law enforcement agencies are moving to become significantly more opaque about what they do, at just the moment in history they should become more transparent to help build and maintain public trust. In this webinar, Radio Television Digital News Association President and CEO Dan Shelley – a nationwide leader in the battle against public safety radio encryption – will share his playbook on how to combat this troubling trend.
