WAKR-AM, AkronA police shooting in Akron last July 4th spawned protests and walkouts over the next few weeks. More protests and civil disturbances were initiated after a grand jury declined to indict the officers. 1590/WAKR-AM broadcast continuing coverage of the events, giving listeners up to the minute information regarding safe routes around the disturbances, safety information for those wishing to attend the events, and coverage of the city and county officials’ activities and responses. Lastly, we covered the memorial, which included local pastors and other officials. |

WDJQ-FM, AllianceEach year Q92 teams up with the American Red Cross and Vitalent Blood Center to fill our area blood banks for the Annual Q92 Blood Battle. Leveraging the on-field rivalry between Canton McKinley High School and Massillon Washington High School, each team encourages their community to donate blood. Last year the event raised more than 228 viable pints of blood. |

WJER-AM, DoverOur community suffered a tragedy when a tour bus carrying the Tusky Valley marching band crashed in November, killing three students and three chaperones. WJER’s coverage began shortly after the first report came in and continues today. We hosted a live stream from the community vigil the night of the accident and continuously promoted on air and online the many ways people could assist the victims and the school district, as well as having clergy and mental health professionals address the challenges of coping with tragedy. |

WKBN teamed up with area organizations for a golf outing that raised $400,000 for the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley fund earmarked for East Palestine support. WKBN donated $5,000 during the event. |

WKYC-TV, ClevelandWKYC was the media sponsor for the Cleveland Reads campaign, an initiative launched by the mayor and local library system that encouraged local residents to collectively read 1 million books in 2023. All year, our employees took part in book giveaways, promoted authors and books, and emphasized the importance of reading, which helped the campaign reach its goal! |

WOBL-AM, OberlinWe’re proud of our high school sports coverage. In 2023, we covered 30 regular season high school football games plus playoffs. We were present in 3 stadiums each week with 2 on-air broadcasts and one game streaming on our YouTube channel Lorain County Sports Network. This year we plan to add 10 more games by adding an additional game each week to our YouTube channel. Last fall we started covering the Jr. LC8 youth football games on Saturday afternoons. For the 2023-2024 High School basketball season we are covering 47 regular season games, including a streaming game of the week, girls basketball game of the week and two boys games every Friday night. |

WOIO-TV, ClevelandWOIO 19 News marked the 10-year anniversary of the Miracle in Cleveland – when three women, who were trapped and tortured for nearly a decade, were found alive in May 2013. 19 News dedicated stories each day that week to remembering the miracle in 2013, while investigating active missing cases in Northeast Ohio, and talking to the people who work to bring the missing home. |

WQMX-FM, AkronIn 2023, WQMX hosted our 24th annual Bosom Buddies benefit concert and auction to raise money for the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital’s Cancer Care Fund, which provides free mammogram screenings for those who are uninsured or underinsured. |

WZAK-FM, ClevelandWZAK hosts our annual A Good Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway each year prior to Thanksgiving. In 2023 we provided 1,000 turkeys to those in the Cleveland communities we serve. |
