Primer on Music Licensing for Broadcasters
Music is an integral part of broadcast programming. Copyright law, and in particular, music licensing, can be very confusing. This primer provides an overview of the copyright laws applicable to the use of music by broadcasters and explains common music licenses and licensing issues for television and radio stations, including:-
(i) licenses required to broadcast music over the air
(ii) licenses required to stream music on the Internet
