Ohio employers face a host of challenges created by fast-moving compliance requirements. To keep our members updated on employment law-related issues, the OAB’s Ohio counsel of Vorys, Sater, Seymour, and Pease, LLP presents an annual employment webinar.
This year's webinar, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m., will be presented by attorney Jackie Ford, a partner at Vorys. The session will provide information and practical advice on a variety of issues, including:
• Employee handbooks: We'll take a look at some common but outdated handbook language that may need to be updated or replaced to comply with recent legal changes.
• Affirmative action: On its face the Supreme Court’s recent ruling restricting affirmative action only applies to educational institutions receiving federal funds. But we’ll discuss whether it could also spawn an uptick in so-called “reverse discrimination” claims by employees or applicants, and some best practices to avoid becoming a target case.
• Accommodation in the workplace: We’ll discuss the big shift in religious accommodation requirements from the Supreme Court’s decision in Groff v. DeJoy, as well as increased accommodation requirements for pregnant workers under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
The OAB is providing this webinar at no cost to our members, but registration is required. The webinar archive will also be posted on the OAB’s website after the session.
Participation in this session may qualify toward credit for FCC EEO outreach requirements.
