Workers’ Comp Savings

Help Maximize Your Premium Savings.

Ohio law requires all employers with one or more employees to carry workers’ compensation coverage. Independent contractors and sub-contractors also must obtain coverage for their employees.

In most states, this insurance is provided by private insurance companies. However, in Ohio the insurance is provided through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC).

The OAB’s Group Rating Program

Group rating allows employers who are substantially similar in industry to group together to potentially achieve lower premium rates than they could otherwise achieve as individual employers. Currently over 95,000 Ohio employers are participating in different types of group rating.

Trade organizations such as the Ohio Association of Broadcasters are allowed to sponsor these group rating programs. OAB offers this group rating service through Sedgwick. This enables OAB members to save anywhere from the BWC maximum discount to a smaller percentage for companies with claims.

CareWorks Comp became Sedgwick as of March 1, 2021. Sedgwick’s commitment to Ohio employers remains as strong as ever. With more than 3,000 colleagues in Ohio, they will continue to offer the best workers’ compensation program solutions to help you mitigate risk and reduce costs. There will be no staff changes as a result of this merger. You will continue to receive the same compassionate, consistent and quality service from the same team you’ve been working with at CareWorks Comp.

How Much Can My Station Save?

The Ohio Association of Broadcasters endorses Sedgwick because they help employers maximize their premium savings. Sedgwick analyzes each employer’s unique claim and premium history to find the highest level of savings in all available workers’ compensation programs.

The goal is to ensure the lowest possible financial impact when an OAB member faces a workers’ compensation claim.

Participation also provides OAB members with other benefits, including Sedgwick claims management services, having a Sedgwick representative attend government hearings if a member’s claim is contested, and a review of all claims for potential handicaps or settlements.
