The Program

The OAB and Ohio Broadcasters Foundation is committed to introducing and attracting younger generations into the broadcast industry, and to support stations with the funding to do so.

As part of this effort, the OAB and Foundation annually presents our Summer Internship Support Program, an initiative which provides our members with $2,500 grants to employ and compensate station interns. For 2026, we will be funding six internships – three in larger markets and three in smaller markets.

Overview

• The OAB and Foundation will support six station internships in 2026 – three in larger markets (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Youngstown, Akron, Canton) and three in small markets (all
  other markets).
• Each member award will be a maximum of $2,500, which will reimburse the sponsoring station for internship compensation.
• Stations are expected to broadly promote the internship to potential recruits, and are responsible for selecting, training, and supervising the interns.

Station Application and Selection Process

• Interested stations should submit an application by Friday, March 6, 2026.
• The OAB will conduct random drawings on Monday, March 9 to select stations to receive the awards.
• To allow as many of our members as possible to receive these awards, the initial drawing will be limited to stations who have not received the award in 2024 & 2025. Stations that have received the award may apply for 2026, and will be considered if there are awards remaining after the initial drawing.
